Attributes and ranged weapons

So I understand that raising strength raises your damage output. Does it work for ranged weapons too, or just for melee? I noticed that when I raised strength, my melee damage changed, but ranged damage seemed to be the same. Even from the back row, my hunter usually does more damage with a melee weapon than with a ranged one. How can I raise my ranged damage?

I don't have time to look at the code now but strength in SOTW, differently from Loren, raises all physical damage. The fact that you do more with melee could be due to the weapons stats ? if you have dual wield (2 weapons equipped) and a normal/poor bow could happen.
