Anyways, critiques are welcome, even with ASCII art

Since we're considering what to do about the DLC, what would you like to see in it? I will need to wait until end of month to see if is economically worth it for me, but I think so. But if you have any suggestion to make, go ahead. Like:
- more romances! (that would mean introduce new romanceable characters in the DLC though, as NPC maybe)
- more political intrigue/roleplay part/multiple choices & endings
- more of the same, more battles and enemies  (this will be fabulaparva choice lol)
- something else

Only thing I can't do is add more skills (a new character is planned, but just that) since the game has already a lot of those skills and I don't think can do more than that (running out of ideas, and I don't like the method of reusing same skills with different names).
- Yes, more romances, new character is even better of course. The thing that I actually want is more scene and interaction between you and the one/route your on. You go with the RPG more than dating sim so I just really want to find out more about the characters. (And Riley)
- more political intrigue/roleplay part/multiple choices & endings
=> Oh yes.
I'm not sure about battles though, the main game looks like it's got many battle to fight already :))

Thanks for the replies :)
Yes for battles I think we have already enough in the main story! besides, if the DLC is mostly about romances/plot/intrigue, my time involved in coding it is much reduced, so makes more sense for me to do it (SOTW was particularly hard for me because I had to put a LOT of my own time coding, and is very different from working on a dating sim for example).
The DLC is supposed to be around 30k words, so not huge but not really small (of course is just a ballpark figure, even the main story of the game was supposed to be much shorter!). Consider that all the camp talk of the 4 romances is 30k, so indeed adding a new character/romance (there could be bisex characters) would take up almost all the DLC.
The current plan was political intrigue, exploring a new place, and some battles (but MUCH FEWER than before!! that's sure). Also party was to be split in two, with a sibling in a party and the other in another party. Each party would have the 2 love interests of each sibling, so maybe the romance part could just be the infamous more interactions along the main story/quest (this time, both parties would have a clear final goal).
I'll talk with Taleweaver about this but probably could do that :)

If your going to split up the party that way could also add in another set jealousy scenes, those are always fun.

SotW: the game were every character can use a wooby

Post by DarcieCobalt » Wed Nov 26, 2014 7:00 pm

Hi! I just finished the game yesterday and I liked it very much. I enjoyed the dynamic between the dufferent characters, they were funny othertimes sad but they stayed in character and felt like real people to me. The end was a bit sudden but funny in a way, for it created a loop between the first and last act. As for the romances I hoped that they weren't all cheesy/sappy and made of rainbows
Spoiler:
and I was happy to be proven right
. My favorite character was, and still is, Chalassa, her story made me cry
Spoiler:
especially on my first playthrough when I didn't have enough hearts and was forced to kill her.

I do have a question though.
Spoiler:
In her romance path Chalassa talks about her being bound to a demon and that when she fails her task, it takes over. So does that mean that at the moment she warned Althea and Shea at the end, she automatically 'failed' her task which caused her to turn into a demon? This would mean that no matter which path you took, she'll always value the twins as her friends and as such decided to warn them before hand.
.

As for the story: I liked it a lot but act 1 felt a bit boring. I understand it though, it was obiously meant as an introduction. The pacing of the story was actually pretty good and I really enjoyed act 2 and the bathhouse talk in part 3. The romance ending was sweet as well (when it was succesful).

To sum it up in five words/sentences: entertaining, realistic (which is saying something considering it's an RPG), Cast full of woobies (in which I feel sad for their pain and want to give them all a hug), cast full of crazy *cough*Volcanoes!*cough*, 'random' plot twist/ sudden ending.

PS: Is there a way to add/ turn on subtitles during the battle? I wonder what some of the characters are saying when they attack 'cause I often can't hear it well through the music. Especially Chalassa for her voice is rather soft (and creepy 'It hurst because I hit something important')
PSS: Is there a fanart page thingy? I'm planning to make some in the near future but I haven't seen a place to put it yet.
It hurts because I hit something important <3

About your question, I am not sure (Taleweaver maybe can answer better) but yes that's a good interpretation of it :)
For the subtitles, here are all the phrases, they're not in the game but are the lines spoken:

Code: Select all

    "Alright!"
"I bet you felt that, didn't you?"
    "Gotcha!"
"There's more where that came from!"
    "That'll teach you!"

    "No... not yet..."
    "EYAAAAAGHhhh..."

Oh this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Jack

edit: I just noticed Rowina says 'Dibs on their spleens' and NOT 'Dibs on their sleeves' as I thought she did. That explains a lot, for it made no sense to me (then again it's Rowina so who knows...)
Lol Chalassa's lines even have 'in whispers' as an extra comment, no wonder she was hard to understand. Krimm's lines are the best xD (especially funny after Jariel's 'I think I'll compose a short ballad of this fight').

But of course! Rainbows, unicorns and lava. Don't forget the lava. Every ending is better with lava.
