Christine's Care Kickstarter

Post by jack1974 »

I just launched my new Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wi ... ref=e49edd

A slice-of-life story, a fresh art style, a romance with a disabled character, and a dominant/submissive dynamic—let’s just say I don’t go for the usual routes!

I hope this does well. :)
Why? I like big ones, that's why.

Well, isn't really doing well compared to previous campaigns haha. I will surely reach the goal, but I was hoping for some stretch goals as well.

Best of luck with this one.

I don't feel like it's one I'd enjoy very much personally. I'll beta test it, as seriously as anything I test, if you want me to, but it's not one that I'll be getting for myself.

Yeah I've learned my lesson with this one. Never going to do a slice of life game again that's not comedy / slapstick humor etc. Meme games. Those are the things people want to play, best to avoid serious topics (even if in the game there's a lot of humor and fun things, people can't know).

If it's any sort of help, these are the "recent" games that I was less than happy with (off the top of my head):

Save the World
Love Bites
Love Notes
At Your Feet

While I was, uhm, challenged by the language in Volleyball Heaven, I do remember it somewhat fondly. I was also happy enough with Summer in Trigue and House of Chavez, so it's not that I just hate modern settings.

Of the fantasy games, I think the Beastmaster Princess was boring and the first Under-realm game felt Under-whelming.

You've still made a lot of hits! I usually trust I'll get something good from you, but due to my financial situation, I'm not going to take a chance on this one.

No worries I understand. And I'll be happy for you to test (with all the Patreon's money you've given over the years, you can surely get this for "free").
Of the four games on top you mentioned, I actually... didn't write any  so at least it's reassuring haha. I wrote Chavez, while both Summer In Trigue and Volleyball Heaven were written by the same person.

With modern games it's hard to have "a hook", I think that's the main issue. It's undeniable that Christine's Care KS is not going very well and I suspect because of the disabled character, I don't know if people expect either a super depressing story (which isn't) or sad scenes, or if the reason is something else.

p.s. the fun thing is that At Your Feet on Steam did so well that I'll definitely HAVE to make another game like that somewhere in future !

(At Your Feet probably hit an untapped niche.)

Yes definitely, and that was my idea actually, I thought it was an untapped niche. Also discovered that KS market is very different from Steam, since even that game Kickstarter didn't do particularly well.

Well with 48h left seems the game will be made... even if I hope to get also Donna's one night stand scene because is hot
This could probably be my last slice of life game though. Not worth it, only fantasy and maybe if I can get the right idea, sci-fi.
