Vera Blanc bug

I recently purchased Vera Blanc. I noticed the the speech bubbles on during the mind-reading portion of the game doesn't display properly. Is there a way this can fixed or is it simply too old to work with Windows 7?

When that happens, you need to update the graphic drivers (like you did for Planet Stronghold). You need DirectX 9.0c, or OpenGL drivers

I have DirectX 11, which comes with Windows 7. Do I have to downgrade?

Edit:

I tried installing DirectX 9.0c. It fixed the problem. After I set it to "force Angle/DirectX Renderer", the bubbles display properly on both Full Moon and Ghost in the Castle. It does not fix Planet Stronghold's problem, but that an entirely differnt matter.

Yes that case is still something in the code that broke with newer framework version, right now I can't think how to fix it... :(
