I've been meaning to buy both the Flowershop games, but the 19.99 prices killS me....So, my question is, why are the games made by Winter Wolves so expensive ( is due to time it takes to make them or something?). Sorry if this has been asked before, but its been on my mind lately.
"so expensive" is relative. Depends compared to what. Compared to iPhone games for sure
There has been a race to the bottom recently in the games industry that I think ultimately will lead to lots of people unable to work anymore on new games/going bankrupt. I don't make match3 or hidden object games but I always try to make something new - but is risky, and that's why I price it higher. I could have worse art, texts, not test the games and sell them for $4.99 but I think people prefer to pay more for better games than pay cheap for poorly done stuff.
Anyway anyone can have his own opinion, but if you follow me on twitter/facebook or are subscribed to my newsletter I make VERY OFTEN promo sales with discounts up to 50-60% so you all need to do is wait. Actually I had a sale for flower shop games just a few months ago

Cause the games are totally worth it <3
@Jack: 50-60 % discount? Good thing I got the newsletter :3 *didn't knew* Then I can bully my sis into finally BUYING HER OWN DAMN COPY instead of hooking my pc everytime she's around for a visit.

Pretty much this, I think Jack has a few fangirl customers like us.
However I understand if the price is too much for some people, money might be tight, and you're just careful with your purchases, maybe a lack of disposable funds. As Jack said you can always wait until he has one of his sales and pick it up for 9.99?

Just to clarify by "very often" I don't mean once a month but usually for the major US and non-US festivities (Thanksgiving, 4th July, Christmas, etc).
wildcardAug 21, 2012
That's more than once a year => very often.
And isn't Thanksgiving just around the corner?
My main problem with the WW games was... I didn't just buy just one game even thought I knew money was tight that month *whistles innocently*
It's the games fault. They are so evil seducing good and addicting.
... Why does it feel like I'm talking about Chambara in the last sentence? XD

How do I subscribe to the newsletter?
wildcardAug 21, 2012
On the main page (http://www.winterwolves.com) there is the option to put in your e-mail and 'Subscribe!' on the left side of the page

Not really sure, but game prices will depend on how much developers spent on making the game. Along with how much the producer spend to publish it.

Winter Wolves is an indie company that works primarily in a niche genre. That's the long and short of it. Supporting small business will always be more expensive, just as anything good for you is.
wildcardAug 27, 2012
And Jack & Aleema stuff is always good for you ;9
jack1974Aug 27, 2012
Unless I get my games on a big portal like Steam, I have really no means to lower prices if I want to keep making more games in future. And I definitely want to
wildcardAug 27, 2012
:3 And we want you to do that as well... >:D
jack1974Aug 27, 2012
Well, honestly I like how it is now. Probably getting there has downsides too, like you need to make the games a certain way, less freedom and for example forget about sexy scenes/characters completely. So I'm not sure what would be better for players...
SylrissaAug 27, 2012
Yes we certainly do want you to keep making more as well. So I have no problem with supporting you.

Well there are different types of players, that would have different wants, personally I plan to keep buying direct but that's just me.

*gets out weapons* ... Steam can stay where it is - preferably faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from my favourite games >
I like my fanservice and eyecandy thank you very much *huffs*
Also I'd probably still buy from the page directly.
The moment there is a third party involved, the producer usually gets less.
Thought I suppose you could load up only the censored version of Loren to steam. Which would make me pity those missing out :3

Yah I like to keep away from STEAM thank you very much. I like "owning" the game and with steam it feels more like borrowing it from a library even though I paid for the game, and the free data collecting they get from people is none of their buisness >.<
But fwiw Steam does sell games that does have nudity/sexual content, just as long as it is not a AO rated game, they seem pretty content imo.
I rather give my money to the company itself and leave out the middleman. I know with distributors they tell you what they sell it for and what percentage of the cut they deem acceptable for you to keep unless you are an AAA developer.

I don't know if I should hug you jack, or slap you for the recent newsletter.
Now I totally had no excuse anymore to postphone playing Planet Stronghold anymore. Damn. *addicted again*
... When did you say there might be an update for the story of his prince-y-ness? XD
jack1974Sep 03, 2012
Ah actually Aleema already did it last week - but we changed only the final sentences, so nothing revolutionary. I wanted to wait to rebuild the game with the new Ren'Py version but meanwhile I guess I could already update it...
wildcardSep 03, 2012
So no enlenghtening of the supposedly short prince-romance? (I read that in another thread)
Btw I found a typo just now - in case you'll still fix them :3
I'm supposed to kick the Arnox Sentinel and when triggering the ! mark in the middle of the map I find a Sentinel 'trapped' and
