I like to sometimes have a set party you need to use.
Makes it a challenge because you might not have used that person before and need to train them up a bit because of the up coming one on one battle

Just curious, this might have been mention somewhere in here, RPG wise, please tell me we don't start at rock bottom lvl 1?
I was hoping in the last Loren to get a special item like all your party get when you did their personal quest, could we might get one in Loren, probably from choosing the path we took or something?
Oh and I remember you talking about a craft system will it be in this one or some other games?
Everyone else obsessed with the romance, me I love RPG combat and gear something about choosing armor and upgrading to the best makes me excited. Will there be sorta lvl cap on this too?

I think yes, will begin at level 1 - since in practice would be the same. I mean, I could have players start at level 10 for example, but then to balance it enemies should reach level 50 or so. So it's a bit pointless. Beside, there will be likely a new skill system.
But choosing initial reward, and maybe some skills you already know, yes that's very likely.

Yes, I really want to have it done. Considering how far we're before is released I think Anima might have time to code it properly, but worse case I'll try it myself (though for sure won't be as good as the one he could do).

Yeah I like the romances, but I like the RPG gameplay too. About level cap there will be one for sure but no clue yet, too early to talk about it

Just thought of this, the problem with Loren 2 will likely be making it loren 2 or Loren of the Wolf, heh. Its ok to borrow some things from SOTW but I think that Strength, Skill and Will are golden for the next loren game. You really don't need to switch it to the other because then it would be same game.
What would work is making a few new tree choices for traits/skills. That's the best thing for the next game.

There's time to think about Loren 2 ruleset

I am not sure what I'll do, I think will see the feedback on SOTW and then decide. As you say could be fine with the 3 base attributes if I add more skills (but with so many characters... is going to take 6 months just to do all the skills! sob sob

Hi there,
Recently I purchased Loren 1+ exp and I am thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I don't know much about you guys since they are my first games I ever bought from small indie developers, but seeing the game
hooked me for about 15 hours straight, I can say that you guys are incredibly talented.
Now, I would like to point out some problems with the first game, I hope that writing here can at least give you some suggestions, and if I'm lucky, you can reassure me that you are trying to implement some of them. Please understand that by no means I think I could do this better than you.
I hope you can keep some strong points of the first game such as the art-style, the mature dialogue, and the structure/pace of the story.
At the same time, I hope you can improve on these areas:
_ The classes for the PC is extremely limited, which is something I regarded as "bad" when I play any RPGs, or games with RPG-elements. In the first one, if you choose thief, you can at least enjoy seeing your PC one shot back-row enemies, but when you choose warrior, mostly you can only function as a tank/paladin. Please give us more options with classes or skills, for example: thief with melee damage's skills instead of just status effect skills, warrior's skills which can make them function as a true damage dealer or a true tank instead of just being average tank with "pathetic" dps.
_ Giving more "evil" choices or choices which consequences could change the state of the party, or even change the world, or even change quests completely.
_More variety in weapons/items, to be honest, as a thief, I acquire 4 strongest crossbow for 4 elements by the middle of chapter 2, and equip Elanor with high-end accessories by the end of chapter 2 as well. That is bad, since I don't really need to worry about money anymore since I reached chapter 3.
_Make the game longer. Please bear with me with this, to be honest, the price is a little steep for the hours that the game provides. By no means I criticize the game on this aspect, but a 60-70 hours game should be what you want to aim at with 35 dollars.
_Giving more extended, more complete epilogues with better closure.
Thank you for reading my long post :D

Thanks for the feedback, about your suggestions:
1) that's already covered: you'll be able to play 4 classes in the sequel (Warrior, Thief, Mage, Healer) with different gameplay styles.
2) that is a bit more complex. Different choices OK, "evil" choices I'm not sure. Choices with consequences on quests should be fine, change the world would probably be too much work
3) variety of weapon items, well in the first game there were over 400 weapons only. I think the only way to make them more different is to have a pseudo-random item generator. But there are also other alternatives and different opinions, check this thread:
http://www.winterwolves.net/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3051
4) Game longevity depends on how you play it, if you read quickly and so on. I noticed many people replayed the game at least twice to see the different romances. I suppose if you're not much interested in all the romances it can be shorter. Anyway, I am also somewhat forced to have high prices because my games aren't on big portals like Steam or GoG (they rejected them all). To be honest I got very few complaints about game prices, and in any case I do regular sales so you can just wait to pick the game when I do one if you prefer

5) The epilogues were voluntarily left a bit vague since we were planning the sequel already by that time. So making it very detailed could lead to problem when in the sequel we need to pick up the various romances and the situations as we left in previous title

I knew you'd say that. And quite frankly, outside of the romances, there really aren't much in the way of non-evil choices either. I know that was a design decision on your part, and I grant that it worked ok, for the most part, in the first game. Although there were moments when Elenor's naive idealism made me want to grab her and shake some sense into her.

I thought there were plenty of items in the list that you published. I don't think the pseudo-random item generator was sufficiently random however. A lot of the items never seemed to appear, while others appeared pretty much every time I looked in a shop. So we really only got to play with a subset of what actually existed. Some weapon types did not seem to have a good mix of damage types available.

In Loren there wasn't a pseudo random generator, but it would pick randomly from the list, based on some parameters (value of the items mainly but also party level, etc). Each vendor was specialized in something, and there were some "super vendors" carrying the most powerful items, like the one that you can find on Chzulu temple after you defeat the lizardmen or the one in chapter4 just before the final battle

Hmm...why don't I remember the Chzulu temple?!?!?!? I'll have to go specifically look for it the next time I open up the game. I checked out all the rest countless times, and there were still quite a few items I never saw.

Hope this is the right place for this.
Loved Loren 1, and eagerly await the sequel, even if it is far off
I hope I'm not repeating anything (I did go through all the pages, but I could easily overlook something).
I agree that 'revisiting' the love stage with previous people makes little sense. However, I would love to see a dialogue or two that would allow one to interact as just a normal couple. One idea is buying/procuring a gift for your beloved. This could be done in a city/town one visits. Of course, reactions would vary. Giving Myrth a flower may actually anger her ("You cut a poor flower, dooming it to death, just for decoration!?!") while Loren could actually show some depth beyond combat ("Amazons make a rather delicious rose-petaled wine"). And yeah, I'm picturing Elenor/Saren sharing a rose-scented bath

Damn I can't believe Steam and GoG rejected them didn't know that until now and I was wondering why they weren't on steam which sucks because I know people who would buy this if it was on Steam I just wish people would explore more options and be more flexible. I really feel for you though Jack your games are great and I have no idea why Steam rejected it if it was put into one of the steam bundles which they do you could end up with a lot more fans too the main reason this makes me furious

the fact is that there are so many terrible and broken games that get released on there that the quality control is really strange as I am sure some gamers here on this forum will remember the huge fiasco with War-z.

Very upsetting to read that I have to say it makes me lose faith in GoG and Steam which I normally have a lot of respect for at least Desura took you on which is good. Best of luck with your future projects though and I really do hope they change their policies in the future because even big titles these days have glitches in it and I can safely say that with Winterwolves games I have never come across a single bug or glitch and that is achievement in itself considering how many games expect you to Beta test for them.

Thanks, well things for Steam could be changing now, since they're accepting more and more games every month. Nothing is sure of course, but I really think that if they keep what they're doing Loren could be in next year. Then it would be hilarious of GoG changed their mind after that. I would probably say no at that point

Well, I for one have voted for Loren and Planet Stronghold. As for GoG, hard to say what they selection process is. I do find it interesting Long Live the Queen didn't really appear until after it passed the Greenlight status on Steam. Don't get me wrong, I love the game Hanako Games made, but if one was of a conspiracy mindset, it does seem weird it happened.
Anyways on to a legit question. I do like the fact one will be able to answer certain questions at the start of Loren 2 (much easier than trying to import save files). However, will one have the choice to make their Elenor/Saren 'single' at the outset?
If I am playing an Elenor/Karen pair, I would have a hard time splitting it up to allow Elenor explore a Breza relationship. Heh, this is just a minor mindset thing, I admit.

Publishers and journalists are,"de facto", sheep (I'm not the only one saying this). When they see one big site reviewing a game, another one will follow. Same for publishers, there are really VERY FEW that take initiative with a unknown/semi-unknown title. Despite all the faults, Valve once again is showing the road to others with Greenlight.
However, will one have the choice to make their Elenor/Saren 'single' at the outset?
Yes, like with Planet Stronghold 2, you can begin the game as single if you want

And after a new playthrough of Loren, it has left me with a burning question: What of Fluffy?
Will Loren have her way, and have Fluffy to keep her feet warm at night?
Will Dora convince Draco to allow the beastie to be her steed?
Will Saren play 'fetch the stick' with Fluffy, and hilarity ensues as he takes one of Myrth's strategic branches?

You mean Trouble? I'll just assume you get the names mixed up because you are a fellow Harry Potter fan.
(Wonder if those two dogs are related? That would make a fun crossover fanfic.)
*blushes furiously*
I've played so many of Winter Wolves Games in the last couple months I've been screwing up names. For example, I was calling Rebecca Fox by 'Ellen'. I really don't know why, just did. Of course, working graveyard shift doesn't help, but that only goes so far.
But yes, I was a Harry Potter fan.
Will Saren play 'fetch the stick' with Fluffy, and hilarity ensues as he takes one of Myrth's strategic branches?
Please include this in the game! I would laugh so much that I'd wake the entire neighbourhood.
This is why I loved Chambara's interactions. They usually had a touch of humor, and were a bit different. Some of my favorite interactions was like the 'weather' scene with Loren, or the 'porridge' with Karen.
