Hm. I just thought about something.

Well, since Loren remind me A LOT of Dragon Age I was thinking about making canon pairings besides the ones with main character. I mean, like in DA2 when you choose not to romance Isabela or Fenris they kind of hooked up. I really liked dwarven love in Loren 1, but since you couldn't romance any of them *pointed look*

But please nothing like in DA1 when

Alistair was making babies with Morrigan and I nearly died of jealousy there. Blasted witch.

It would add nice touch to character personalities. I think.
jack1974
Yes I've thought about this and could be fun indeed. After all, I've always thought that Amukiki and Draco or Rei and Chambara form a nice couple
Valorous_Roland
Nooo, Jack, it must be Rei and Selith! It just has to be...!

And don't forget you're adding Raven in Loren 3 so he can romance Chambara!

I do take couples very seriously.

But I do like the idea... Although it sounds hard to do. And I really only like it as long as you can choose if you want them to end up together. I mean, even if I don't date, for example... Say, Breza. I might not want her to date, say, Karen or Loren. Or, as another example, say I don't date Mesphit, but I don't want him to end up with Mryth (oh, wait... That sounds adorable!). I just don't like those couples. And couples are important! It can ruin my headcanon!

So, good idea, but only if it's in the player's hand. So, Elenor/Saren, as Matchmaker Queen/King, has the right to tell everyone who they can and can't date.

Perks of being the hero.
Sylrissa
Nah Selith needs to end up with Elenor for sure!
Valorous_Roland
Well, Elenor gets everyone, of course!

...Except Draco, Nook, Myrth, and Lydia.

Lol it wouldn't be much realistic though?

Rei:"mommy can I date the sexy Lizarwoman?"

Elenor:"No! She's mine."

Rei:"Ok ok then the hottie dark witch"

Elenor:"No! Think if you had sons with that woman! would be a disaster."

Rei:"OK ok whatever, but I want romance someone! Even a man! What about Draco!?"

Elenor:"Haha you're joking, Draco is all mine!"

Rei:"But but... he's homosexual!"

Elenor:"BWahhaha I'm the player I make the rules!!"

HMMMM I am not sure about this...

Well you can either let players decide or let deeper interaction out of this game.

Otherwhise, you will only get angered players who think that the couple you designed just does not fit with their imagination/jealousy :D

Since teh majority of your players wants to mate with everything they encounter, I suggest to focus romancing on the MC as is or include harem options :D
Valorous_Roland
Maybe DunKalar has the right idea here. I do like the idea (minus the harem option ! Although Jealousy Scenes were great... Although now that's I'm committed from Loren 1, I'd feel terrible dating again), but I feel that it could anger people. Some (me included) take headcanon very seriously...

Or you could do it like a Harvest Moon game, in which you can get married. Once you get married in that game, you can trigger scenes between other characters (bachelors/bachelorettes you didn't marry). But you could choose whether or not to view the scene, and, if you don't, they don't get married.

I think, though, that sound like a lot of extra work. And, I think if it's done wrong (i.e. out of the player's hands) it's would be a huge issue. It's not like I wouldn't buy the game, but other games that did this (Mass Effect 3) really annoyed me. It was my biggest issue in the game, and I'm sure that there are others that wouldn't like "canon" couples that they don't support (or even clash with your couples... "What!? Amukiki is supposed to be dating Draco!? No, he's dating me!"... And I wouldn't like something like that to be considered canon, you know? If it's in the game, and it's the only couple for Draco, it's kinda implied to be what's supposed to happen, right? And that would anger AmukikixElenor fans (me!), AmukikixSaren fans, and SarenxDraco fans).
jack1974
OK, for now to be honest nothing is planned and this seems more like an extra feature if there's time, but if I decide to do that, seems that people want some kind of control over it :)

The Alistair scene with Morrigan is so incredibly cringe-worthy, it should stand as a testament for what NOT to do with your characters. Ugh.

To be honest, this is how I feel about canon pairings between romancable people. I can be out-voted on this, though. But generally, I feel it only has the potential to make the game less fun for people. Not to mention that we'd have to play favorites on who to pair, because it would be silly for everyone to pair up. The only reason those particular characters in Dragon Age 1 & 2 were paired were because David Gaider wanted his characters to hook up with the sexiest women in the party (a selfish act I don't intend to replicate).

I personally don't care whether non-romanced characters hook up with eachother, and I think it gives it a bit of additional depth. (They are characters too! They have interests outside the main character!... though that can vary based on the individual.)

Using Dragon Age 2 example, I personally didn't care if Fenris and Isabella hooked up. They made sense for eachother and added amusing banter. However, their relationship wasn't rubbed in my face and I didn't have to watch (eugh, like Dragon Age 1... if I romanced Alistair, that was ALL SORTS OF AWKWARD.)

However, again with Dragon Age 2, Anders seemed pretty monosexual, focused solely on Hawke. And it fit his character.

Anyways, this was my long-winded way of saying I have no stake in non-romanced NPCs pairing up with eachother. It may violate some peoples' head-canon, but fan-canon =/= canon. (Barring cases where canon is extremely STUPID. But I trust the writers here to do a good job!)
Franka
I don't feel strongly either way, but I hope the NPCs come aross as vibrant, living beings with hates/loves/cares, regardless of whether my character is pursuing them. I'm not overly worried about that though, based on the first game.
biscuit
Yeah, Franka took all my wordiness and condensed it what I really want. :O
P_Tigras
I think it comes across as too contrived if -all- the party characters pair up with other party characters. If one pair who are a good match for each other pair up like Ramas and Dora, that's great. And even if the couple isn't a good match for each other, but they're clearly attracted to each other , that's ok too, although the break-up should be pretty colorful if this is the case. This game is Loren 2 however, not the love boat. So there's no need to go overboard with pairings.

ROFL I laughed hard at this

Im hoping that the game doesn't change the stat/skill system too much. I usually like it when games are consistent somewhat although not always. Planet Stronghold 2 wont be anything like the first game as it will have Lorens type of stat system :)
jack1974
Seasons Of the Wolf will be quite similar to Loren, albeit with more attributes and (I hope, have still do code that) more skills :)
vexingaura
I have played Planet stronghold the original Loren and Heileen and I have to say my favourite romances were definitely the ones from Loren I don't mean the other games were bad at all just that Loren's were really good. In terms of romance not too sure who the writer was but as long as they do more of the same and add development that compliments their characters I don't think I could ask for more. Maybe with more rivals it could lead to huge cat fights like Jul vs Chambra those two seem so similar after all. I was worried at first that with so many romances it might be overwhelming but with Jack so pumped up and ready for Loren 2 I can't help but want to cheer him and the writer on and it is really sweet to such dedicated artists in touch with their fans something I fear that bigger developers controlled by publishers are losing. Also the forums are so respectful too and full of great people haven't come across one troll or flamer since being on here which is great to be fans with you all.

As for combat I love the fantasy side of it and the game play was great for me had no complaints there and hope there is a really easy difficultly so I can zoom through and see each romance I worry that without that or a cheat I will have to leave out the less appealing looking romances completely when they could end up really good. I just wish I had more time in the end. Definitely going for a hard run on my first playthrough and I hope the carried over saves go smoothly so I keep my romances with my characters from the first game without doing the game again normally I wouldn't mind but I am so low on time these days. Story-wise I think Loren has a great thing going so I look forward to where the story takes us.

Features I like to see most?

Harder battles (perhaps less active party members)

Better equipment or perhaps the OLD crafting system that was used in the old Loren build (where you have 1 weapon and you enhance it)

And perhaps the Fan Service that seems to be missing :P

The love boat is hi jacked!

Cheers
