I started from scratch. Yep, it's those bandits who stand on the road and one could give money to, but I was stubborn...

Haha no, either you pay or you fight! No third option

The trait HP/SP bonus doesn't survive a level up - my newly promoted hunter wasn't healed fully.

It's been a long while since I last posted so I just want to say this about Seasons of the Wolf. First impressions is I like the music a lot. It's got that right mix of bass, string and keyboard so I hope that this music stays later in the actual game. Second I like the new chargen system, a lot more customization options which is a huge plus. Will let you know more later once I play through more of the game.

Ah! looks like need to ask Anima's intervention again :)

Thanks, the music is all custom composed for this game so of course will stay even in the final version :)

Should be done in the code already, though I haven't tested it yet.

Code tests before publishing? Strange concept, never heard of :)
jack1974
I should have tested it but was too tired  doing it now!
jack1974
Yes is correct, I just tried and saw 85/93 after I clicked "finish level up". Will check if I didn't miss some files myself!

Just to be sure I meant that I fixed it just now, not for the published version. Was just taking a small break from coursework. My guess would be that it has something to do with the difference between quest and combat level ups. But that shouldn't matter any more. The reset is now part of the level up function itself. So should be fine in the next version.
jack1974
Found it, I was calling another function with a similar name, hence the confusion. On next update will work :)

A classic :D

But if we're talking about the birthday present traits: Either +5 attribute is grossly overpowered or SP/HP regen and SP/HP bonus are too small. Will or strength bonus raise SP or HP by 25; plus the other benefits a higher attribute delivers.
jack1974
When I designed those bonuses was early in the development so I didn't know yet which numbers I would have for HP/SP, but I just tried to level up a hunter to level 20 putting all points in constitution, and is 350HP now, with the bonus 390 HP (so 40HP gained). So yes early doesn't give a big advantage but later could be quite powerful (you can reach level 30, so there's room for even more % increase).
renke_
Ah, I didn't know that the bonus scales.

Will the regeneration traits also increase?
yayswords
It's true the +10% bonus is probably the best longterm. But the stat bonuses get you to the traits sooner.

Will the regeneration traits also increase?

No that one not since would be too powerful, so might increase that one indeed, maybe to 2 :)

Or +1 every 7 levels. Would be an incentive for yayswords to break the level 6 barrier ;)

I already did! Wasn't so difficult now that it actually hands in the bear cub quest :P

Anyway since mana costs don't go up with level I don't think the regen background should either.

Actually I think I'd like the bonus HP/SP background to be replaced. I think all the others are okay. Just hard to think of something the other options don't already give. Well, it could give a flat +15 or +20 HP and SP. That way it's still better than +5 con (25 HP) or +5 will (25 SP) but those stats help you get to the traits faster.

A pot of gold, found at the end of the rainbow.

500 instead of 100 starting gold would be probably similar to the effect of +5 for defence (skill), +5 magic (arcane), ... - would be a flexible trait for indecisive players ^^

As a side note: I tried the hunter again - and the class is to such an extent flexible that I totally suck with it. I'm more the player type for simple and sigle-minded classes ;)

Anyway, if the aforementioned fight does not give that 35 gold, is it possible to run into trouble later, when one is supposed to pay 35 for the herbs?

It is possible to own less than 35 gold to pay Shagasomething - and you'll see a special text for this (borderline) case ;)
