Starting to add the "epic weapons" in ACT3:

Valis gets a couple of those, so is faithful to his sprite image

I put some values, which of course will need to be refined later by the "database hackers" volunteers

The legendary weapon could have a better name, "balanced hatchet" doesn't sound legendary at all

actually I like the understated name - legendary weapons don't need "oh, shiny!" ornaments and over-the-top names like Francisca* the Dragon Slayer.
weapons are tools, and a mighty but introduced without fanfare legendary axe is imho a nice touch.

Anyway that can be changed, is not a problem

they're all custom forged by Aenais (a major character in ACT3, blacksmith) so you couldn't name them for example "Lost Hatched of The Hammerhands Troll"

but they could have a name maybe, or something else.

This is the part where I don't mention finding a 26 damage onehander in act 2...
Admittedly that's a really rare roll though.

Yes but in Vaelis' case, you get TWO! a pair of weapons

Anyways, I haven't made my mind if is cool/correct to get the "ultimate weapon" when there's still the final act. The final one is a bit shorter, but still unsure if that's the right thing to do. I guess I'll wait and see people's feedback.

Yeah and that 26 damage weapon was in a stack of three. If I was similarly lucky in act 3 I could probably find something better than those axes. But like I said it's rare, usually I don't find onehanders with over 21 damage and they have less stats than the hatchets. I think they're okay for now but I haven't tried act 3 casino. They're definitely not the ultimate weapons though

for Rare quality the maximum amount for axes (highest base damage for single-hand weapons) is:
lvl 15: 28 dmg
lvl 20: 29 dmg
lvl 25: 32 dmg
lvl 30: 34 dmg

Axes highest? I always see clubs winning.
Also, since it's a pair of axes, they should be called the Wicked Sisters. 50% off regen dance lessons for anyone who knows what I'm talking about.

Just one question for now: What level is Vaelis expected to be on when he receives those axes?

I don't know

Because this part is quite "free play" meaning that there are 3 main places you can get quests but you can do them in different order. And I plan to allow some grinding too.
Anyway: since those items should still be good even in next act they should match level 20-21 items for sure, at least.

Facing another dilemma right now: the twins epic weapons

What was planned is: if twin is a Hunter, will give a Bow, if is a Ranger two swords, if is Druid a quarterstaff.
Though I'm thinking to just offer a choice of two items for each Class, since for example you could be playing a twohanded weapon Ranger. So will do something like:
Ranger: two swords/two handed weapon
Hunter: bow/short sword
Druid: quarterstaff / dagger

Druid & dagger?

Mah druid can't equip a dagger right now.
Not trying to add to the problems here but what about shield-wielding rangers?

The hunter should get two swords. I'm not sure about the druid dagger. How would it differ from the staff?

Or Vaelis.

Ah yes, a shield too. That's not a problem, just adding an extra shield item.
As for Druid-dagger yes, you can't equip them but if I make custom item usable only by the twins can be anything. In theory even a 2h sword that could be used by a Druid

(not going to do that though!!)

By the way, what happened to Morran's pants? I thought those were supposed to be the ultimate twin-item.
(Gotta drop them before the final romance scene... unless you'll make those undroppable.)

I think traditionally a druid would use a staff or nothing. Instead of a dagger you could have a swirly-whirly item called Spirit of Ninim or something.

Yes maybe some focus item, could work better indeed!
p.s. Morran's pants were eliminated from the game by the censorship!

Thumbs up for the focus item for druid.

I also support two swords for the Hunter as those would give extra power to the critical hit and dual-attack skills.
p.s. Morran's pants were eliminated from the game by the censorship!
Oh, that's just droll. Usually censorship adds pants instead of taking them away. What kind of censorship is this?
