I just noticed that taking the shortcuts to different (new) areas do not give the 'new area'-found credits. One can only get those by entering the area through the main points (from market area/neutral area/north gate etc). Now, it'll feel pretty odd to already have been, eg, in the Kiduu area and then when you enter it again through the supposed route, you'll get Riley introducing it to you. :)

On the positive side, loving the dialogue so far! So much fun

I thought no balance changes yet. I'm not even done fighting mercenaries. The Gamesh ones die a lot faster :P

Kiduu ones are proving a real challenge. The Lugal ones just took little damage, they weren't immediately threatening.

A little confused. Do you mean that to play the Act 2 beta we need to pay for the game? And if so where can I do that, cause for me the trial is still ending after Act 1

Also in the last Act 1 wave battle, there's some wonky placement of the character portraits in the pre-fight screens, i.e. they're stuck a tad lower than they should be. Pretty sure it wasn't like that before.

EDIT: Nevermind on the where to buy it. Is that what we need to do though?

Kiduu pikemen are brutal. Sweeping Strike that inflicts poison, pushes target back and doesn't require SP or stagger lol. If I got it right anyway.

Oh and it can hit the back row. R.I.P. Riley.

Eating/drinking at the tavern kicks me out of the tavern afterwards.

Ahh yes lol. Well the shortcuts are useful only in latter quest so I think will disable them the first time you visit Dingirra.

OK I'll wait then. The encounters don't happen too often too :) Probably I need only to balance so they're even difficulty (more or less of course).

yes sorry added the game page to first post. It's here: http://winterwolves.com/seasonsofthewolf.htm

I don't understand, you mean the party portraits ? Here looks fine (is the same code on all pre-battle screens, so can't be something specific of that battle).

Heh yes they're nasty :)

Oops, another thing that shouldn't happen! going to check.

Based on my first impression on the 4 family fights, agreed on this one. Kiduu-fight is almost too brutal. Galanna is also on the tough side, but I guess it's okay for NM. Gamesh & Lugal were easy-peasy. However, some of this easiness on my part is because of the money we had left, so healing up at taverns is not a problem. (I'm playing in NM, druid & hunter, minimal healing skills from the 1st Act.)
jack1974
Hmm perhaps I should leave a bit of money, to at least get 2-3 healings, otherwise would be a bit too hard in NM I think. After all even if when they were captured they stole all their money, probably they have earned a few in the first weeks in Dingirra... so maybe I'll just divide the gold amount at end of Act1 by 3-4.

Aye here's an updated assessment of the mercs.

Kiduu are brutal. Not unbeatable but three in a row, I'm not sure I dare try that unless I got a full heal between.

Lugal are kinda boring. They have high health and defenses but run out of mana fast. So after like 3-4 rounds you're just exchanging weak blows with them. Or giving them pain but I want to save mana.

Gamesh guards are the easiest I think. I don't think they're threatening enough for their squishiness.

Galanna guards are okay. If you leave the battlemage up it's easy to regen dance as he can spend so many turns just refreshing Eagle's Grace or Perfect Balance on himself.

Note I haven't visited the tavern (I reloaded :P) but I haven't wiped out the mercs yet, probably gonna do some shopping before I try the Kiduu again. Lugal and Gamesh have been wiped out though.
fabulaparva
I'll revisit my first impression on the Lugal party and say that they are easy-peasy when one gets 2 of them. Fighting 3 of them is far less easy. :P

Riley's mirror-skill is nicee, especially since I'm right now without a Ranger and their trusted Bramble Coat.

And oh, all the enemy-sprites I'm beating into pulp are gorgeous. :)
jack1974
Cool :) note that of course is NOT required that you wipe out all enemies during your first exploration, is optional. But I know how you "grinders" play...

It says one day until next plot event. Are we supposed to be able to rest somewhere?
jack1974
No in this case once you've finish you come back to the Arena. That's where you rest, slave!!!
Asonder
Ah, ok thanks :)

Yeah it's the player portraits. They get stuck below the box when I try to move them into place for the battle. Not a huge deal but I thought it was worth pointing out.

It's not specific to that battle, I just don't have any earlier saves so I can't check. I don't remember it being like that before the update though. Maybe it's something wrong on my end if no one else is seeing it.
jack1974
Ah OK I think that happens if you STARTED a game time ago with an early version. Like, even started it and played the first battle only, then waited and played the latest version, it will still show that, since the coordinates for the target drag/drop are defined only when game starts. So I'm afraid you'll see that for the rest of the game unless you restart  sorry about that!

Yeldin ask why he should care for our "meager possessions" since he's so rich. So why are we getting robbed between the acts again? :P

Wait what the fk, Krimm can't use shields? I paid 1k for a super shield to welcome her into the party before I even knew when I'd get her! Growl!
Asonder
Ok great, no worries I was going to start a new game anyway to keep it fresh in my mind...when I can scrounge up the money to pay for it  I'll be sure to give more feedback then!

Life Channel is insanely good. I'm a bit afraid of building upon it because of all the skills I've seen on Riley, Krimm and Rowinda, this one is by a fair margin the one I would imagine will get nerfed, if any. On the other hand, Syphon Life looks absolutely terrible. No scaling at all.

Also I'm a little concerned about the starting gear of the new NPC's. Krimm has less defense than my druid.

Hmm, and her Adrenaline just failed to remove stagger, although it did work before. You need to work on AI too. Kicked monsters don't mind staying in the back row (at least the ants).

Rowinda concept: Get strength and constitution to 25, get the +health trait, after that pump up constitution. She has the tools to always afford Life Channel, and the higher her health is, the more she heals the party. A druid/ranger heal can easily top her off after that, if needed. Any opponent relying on AoE damage can go cry in a corner. But if you nerf it the crying corner will be mine because I'll have a mage with tons of health for no good reason.

It's the tough life of arena slaves! :)

Yes I was considering her as a pure rampaging barbarian who will use either 2h weapons or dual wield. But probably it would be better to allow her to use shield indeed since there are only two pure warrior classes. Will change this, but won't be available unless you restart

And yes life channel probably is TOO GOOD :) though even the Jariel skills are rather powerful (the buff ones at least). I'll wait more before drawing conclusions of course but I think will probably nerf it a bit. Not sure yet though. Or simply put a cap to the amount, or something else.

Ah yes, is another thing I need to check indeed :)
jack1974
I've updated Krimm's starting gear so now she has only quality/masterwork stuff. She had Defense 88, hopefully now is better :)
