I guess if I had to go into "dreamland" features that I'd REALLY love... hmmm...

I'd think some little, for fun mini-game style things to play with your companions. Particularly ones I can play with that may involve the lose of clothes, woooo! *Murdered by everything*

Well if it's a sequel maybe someway to transfer a save file to represent your choices? If not at least some sort of option to determine what choices a person may have picked last game? (Akin to Mass Effect 2's Genesis) Some people may not have gotten the expansion and will be very wierded out is Sauzer appears out of the blue as... well you know "blue".

The other thing is probably a few more sprites like that of getting injured or some fighting stances. Felt a bit wierd when frozen standing characters charged into each other. Perhaps some of the important dialogue/interludes may have more actual scenes depicted.

Other than that there is alot one can add to the world of Loren the Amazon Princess. Which from what I've seen is being done very well. I can only guess what villians there could be.

Demons, Undead, Golems, Elementals, Dragons, etc.
jack1974
Yes there will be choices at beginning of the game to set what happened in the past.

About more sprites I'm going to try adding as much content as I can, within reasonable time/money constraints. The game already has much more CGs than the first one, almost double! :)
Rinvee
Well... I always had that little dream with Rei&Saren...

I think it would be interesting to see some "only hetero" or "only homo" characters switch to other team. Like after the time in Loren 1 they're starting to see Saren/Eleanor in different light. (Or maybe it's just me feeling like frustrating womanizer Rei with his feelings for Saren and making Draco/Myrth finding save heaven in arms of my strong, strighforward Eleanor~)
jack1974
I remember when in Planet Stronghold 2 initially made prince Cliff and Lisa, most people really commented on how it was lame/unrealistic...

But in any case, changing the sexual orientation of some characters is impossible right now because all the romances have been drawn (and also most of them already colored). Sorry :)
DunKalar
I think it would be interesting, if there would be a slightly different storyline depending on the character you are playing.

i.E. if you play Elenor, you might be able to rally support from Karen for some sort of conflict because she likes females whilst as Saren you might just be ignored as some slave of her daughter. The Lizardmen you discovered in her personal quest might be such a support, if Karen was able to establish diplomatic relations.

I think this could be done with some small side quests, depending on 2-4 NPC's but may be a nice twist to the storyline to encourage multiple play throughs :-) Should not be too much storywriting / difficult scripting I think.

Dragon Age Origins used this to perfect the illusion of many different possible storylines while you where marching along the same old main storyline over and over again ;-)
jack1974
Yes, but if I do that will be done as last thing, or in any case balanced (same amount of extra content for male/female players). It's not an easy design decision because from the info I gathered on my own and from other sources, very few % of players bothers to replay a game (and RPG in particular) to see the various differences. So if use development time to add several side quests instead of the main quest (the one that people will see for sure) it could be seen as making the game shorter for the highest % of people who won't bother with all the side quests.
DunKalar
hehe true.

But that is what I thought of. You get the same things just in another fashion ;-) (Elenor gets Lizardmen and Saren gets Dumbledor's ehhhhh Draco's army ;-) ).

From my experience (I am Gamemaster to a P&P Group and know the pain of developing a plot ;-) ) this won't be very much work and can be done with a few backgrounds and a bit of text.

Ooh, I thought so, but felt that great urge to share my desires here :P

If at all possible, I think it would be nice to have a feature that would let you reset and redistribute your skill points and abilities. There were points in both Loren and Planet Stronghold wherein I thought being able to do that would have been quite useful.
jack1974
Yes, though in all the games that allow that option, you usually have to pay a "price" (in-game) or some other form of compensation. Otherwise resetting/redistributing the stats at will would ruin the game replayability a lot :)
Anima_
It would be doable, depending on the level up solution of course in how easy it's done.

On the whole I'd agree that respecing is a good idea. But there is one serious potential fault. With respecing you can not have choices between short term gain and long term gain. Since you can simply choose the short term options and later redistribute to the long term options. Of course if the system has no such choices, then there are few problems with that. (Some are playstyle oriented and will remain.)
DunKalar
I think if you manage to balance the groups of enemies, so you need a balanced group with a bit of everything as a player, respecing is also unimportant for the fun / difficulty of the game.

Otherwhise maybe some sort of "training center" would help, where you get some dummies with a normated gear who fight against different normated nemies. So players can try out different stat-distributions against some specialised foes like "heavy armored" or "deals lots of damage" and so on. So players can get a better feel for the stats and what they do in different stages of the game.
Anima_
That sounds reasonable. Since we need to do something like that for the initial balance testing anyway it wouldn't be that much additional work. I'll keep it in mind.
DunKalar
yay I posted something usefull ^^

Yay Dunkalar! :3

You guys did say 'want the most'...

- Respec. Or at least more info/details/a guide. There were so many times I was wishing I had some sort of guide so I could strategize more properly because the stats (i.e: Str, Skill and Will) didn't have much details on them, resulting in me butchering the builds/play-types of my characters. If you want to see what the results were, go ahead. Otherwise, ignore le spoiler part thingy >.> I played in Normal mode, by the way.

    - More expressions, sprite-wise. I found it weird sometimes cause either they have the same expression throughout the whole dialogue or the expression didn't suit it. Awkward is awkward.

    - In-depth development. I found the chapters a bit too short and, Idk, off-putting? In some places, the plot was a bit too hurried - the pacing a bit too fast. It was like, action everywhere - up, down, left, right and center and there was just no room for Elenor's/Saren's character to develop properly. Too rushed. Some of the characters weren't too developed, either - and didn't quite draw me into the VN/RPG like how it could have, so a tad of lost potential.

    - More organized item/inventory menu + Goods/Stores. I nearly went nuts trying equip my characters properly, resulting in me doing minimal checking/changing of equipment in the end. A couple of them retained their original/underwent little changes. (yeah, I know ._.) I think it would have been better if you just categorized the weapons (e.g: Ranged, Daggers/Blades, Two-Handed.etc) and armour (e.g: Light, Medium, Heavy). It would have been much simpler.

    - Free story mode, without the re-grinding and redoing of specs.etc again.

    - Animated scenes (What?)

    And...I think that's all n.n
    jack1974
Hmmmmmmmm surely your requests are a bit demanding for a poor indie like me, eh??

Jokes apart. Animated scenes... not yet. More expression? they had a lot! perhaps you mean "poses"? for that yes, could have more, but expressions usually means facial expressions and they had a lot of different ones, probably more than any other low-budget JRPG produced in the west by an indie team (I checked a bit the competition). For poses yes, there could be more variety, I agree. But takes lot of time/money to add new ones sadly.

About respec we talked about it in another thread, can't find it at the moment but yes, if done properly = good thing :)

Development, it's a matter of tastes. Considering the game has 250,000 words, making more in-depth development would have been hard, unless we took another year to do it  the problem maybe, is that Loren has a BIG cast of characters. So it's hard to do character development for all of them. Also, tastes: some players said that there was too much writing. Others that was perfectly paced between battles, and so on. Is always hard for developers to find out what people want, or better, what the majority of people want (since sadly a product has success if matches the tastes of the biggest group of players).

Agreed on the inventory menu/system, it could be improved as you said, adding more category/subcategory buttons or using a different system, like the one Anima is coding for Planet Stronghold 2.

Thanks for the suggestions of course! :)

That's because we talked about it in this very thread.

Yes I'm currently working on the equipment system for Planet Stronghold 2. We changed the way things worked a lot. Though we probably won't create categories for individual weapon types, there will be either a sort or filter function in the inventory. Depends on the time I'll have at the end of the project. It should definitely be there in Loren 2.
    jack1974
Haha lol was just a few post above and I missed it
