Nothing wrong with the element of surprise. I would prefer those cases to be where you have a choice of different skills to get past the problem, so you're not locked into one specific choice of character, though.
The important bit is of course to give these things some thought and come up with the best design ever.

Yes, after the main engine is coded I plan to help Aleema with scripting some missions, since is not that easy to write them if you're not familiar with the system. Right now trying to finish both Heileen 3 and Bionic Heart 2 first

Any updates on estimate release date? I like your other games but ... the RPGs are the top!

Well I'm sure he's still busy putting the finishing touches on Heileen, plus working on getting the yuri version out by Jan/Feb (yay!) , but I am looking forward to this as well, almost as much as Loren 2, I really enjoy playing as Lisa's story..
The only game I didn't end up liking was BH, but I show it to my brother and he loved it.

As Sylrissa said I'm quite busy right now

I honestly don't want to say an estimate date for PS2 since there are many factors involved (art, writing, coding). However I might announce another RPG in the works soon, the infamous "steampunk RPG" I spoke about... months ago (wow time goes fast!). I should be able to code that one reusing Loren original code (with some changes of course!) so at least on the code part would be faster I think! I still need to produce all the art for it and that takes a while though

*sits up* Wait, what!?! This is
awesome. Steampunk RPG with Loren - style battle system? Yes, please! (where's that shut up and take my money pic when you need it

)
Who's writing it?
P.S. Also looking forward to Heileen yuri version like Sylrissa

Yes but before announcing it officially I need first to plan it better

I'm talking with writer in these days about the gameplay system and need to see if there's any problem about reusing Loren engine, for example ,there's no support for "ammo" at all even if I think could be added somehow.
The writer is a new one, he's a professional writer and helped with Loren 2 storyboard, and curiously an existing customer too!

He plans to join the forums to talk about it after I officially announce the game, probably in January/February. Stay tuned for more news

Just got the Lisa / Michelle romance image a few weeks ago and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Well, ALL the romance scenes made so far for PS2 are totally awesome to be honest

So happy to see this game being made. I loved the first game, mainly because of the gameplay (really cool the exploration minigame!) and now that Aleema is writing this sequel, this can't turn out anything but AWESOME!

Will it have custom soundtrack like you posted in your blog, JAck ?
jack1974

Thanks

and yes will have definitely a custom soundtrack. I realized how silly was not to do that already for the past games (well had budget problems too

). I also plan to include a bonus content like I did for Heileen 3 with lots of unused sketches and stuff!

Steampunk sounds good (very underused in RPGs and video games in general) but I'd prefer Planet Stronghold gameplay.

You mean theme/setting? because gameplay really could be the same in a steampunk or sci-fi game

Planet Stronghold gameplay, meaning having access to a lot of skills and using different skills to solve certain situations (rather than combat the entire time).

Ah I see, well I haven't spoken with the steampunk writer about this, maybe we can add something like that in that game too

are those choices enough?

Though to be honest this is a special case where you'll get a bonus to one of the starting skills by picking a choice to solve one of the early situations. But you can get an idea of how the rest of the game will be under this regard. Don't worry, the non-combat skills will be used in the game!

OMG!

reminds me of one of the gamebook I used to play... the CYOA ones (Choose Your Own Adventure). This is f***ing cool, can't wait for this game to be out!

I'm okay with that as a preliminary choice, but...
Heh. It'd be kinda silly if EVERY choice in the game went like that.
jack1974
Dec 28, 2012
Haha indeed. It would take 10 years to write if all choices were like this!

This is the first choice, so the number of options matches the number of skills. In the other points of the game there will be alternatives to fighting, but like the first game you'll have 2-3 choices, not 10 !!

Hmm Lucille doesn't bring really good news, doesn't she?

I love the start of the game, the sense of impending doom, I really like it

Today commissioned the full soundtrack which will be of ten unique songs, in a mix of styles like orchestral rock, ambient, etc
