From the picture you had up with Jul leading a horde, obviously there will be several non-humans under her command. Obviously we don't know what you have planned, but it could be interesting to get some of the other races to oppose Jul. Selith with the Lizardmen come to mind.

What might be even more interesting is the Cyclopes. If nothing else, demonblooded Mesphit could have made a strong impression on them...

Now that you mention it... in the spirit of keeping things from becoming too romantic, I'd like to see some of those races capitalize on the disorder and conquer some land from the elves/humans/amazons. And without any lovely reconciliation where everyone who isn't a demon saw reason and allied against the Great Evil.

Oh, I concur, not everything has to be sweetness and light :)

I was just thinking it might be interesting to have some more interesting races that may not be automatically hostile...or if hostile, allowing one to provide diplomacy to go beyond the human/elf/dwarf dynamic.

The Lizardmen could be a tough sell. After all, they do have an organized tradition of magic (the Lizardmen Wizards) and aren't averse to human sacrifice (the whole point of rescuing Karen in part 1). By the same token, not all the Lizardmen are innately hostile (the reaction of the Lizardman wedded to the elf in Karen's quest).

As for my suggestion on the Cyclopes, it was also the fact Mesphit and the party may have thinned out the ranks of the more cantankerous Cyclopes. Assuming the Dark Elf village isn't scrabbling for its existence, it could even be a point of contact with the Cyclopes.

Of course... As Chambara said during the game "It's just a war, there's always going to be a war". So, regardless of the result, the sentients beings of Aravorn would not sit still while there is a clear opportunity to "raise their interests".

Now, that's could be very intriguing... HAHAHAHAHA!

I always had a thing for stories that go on a grand scale. Bloody wars, true love, tensions rising as events tear everything apart, the world falling into chaos, fire, and agony WHAHAHAHA...think I got to carried away there.

Regardless, for what's happening the story, I expect dark things. Not to dark, granted, but something that fits whats happening. Any chance you could tell us how low it can go?

hmmmm.. dunno if these were mentioned but i would rather enjoy more class selection, aka warrior, thief, scout, mage etc for Elenor / Saren. Also perhaps a "load from save" feature to unlock a special sequence or item.

For example if you kill Zeal in Loren, you get a 2 handed Death Knight sword, perhaps carring over or giving a special weapon would encourage some to play through and keep their saves.

Ive seen some games with a load from previous game save feature so perhaps something interesting or exciting can be snuck into the hidden places

The planned classes for Loren 2 are Warrior, Skirmisher, Mage and Healer. All of them will be available for Saren/Elenor.

Unfortunately loading savegames from another game isn't possible with the engine we use. It would require a special clear data implementation that Loren 1 didn't get.

Instead there will be questions about what happened in the first game, so getting special items might still be possible. I'm a bit wary about adding powerful equipment at the start of the game, but there hasn't been any discussion about that either way.

You could always humorously acknowledge the problem it would be if we could keep the awesome gear by giving each character a purposely lame/illogical explanation to why they don't have their stuff anymore. Termites ate the plate mail and the bow rusted. Lost the sword in a bet about...

It could be entertaining, and yes breaking the fourth wall, but the other options are either letting us keep some of it, which obviously means it suddenly has to not be so great anymore, despite the significance of especially the personal quest rewards, but also say Zeal's sword, or. Okay, run-on sentence. Or try to come up with a plausible explanation to why every single character managed to lose every single piece of equipment. It'd probably not work, so leap at the chance for humor I say. Aleema does humor well.

Spiffy, Looking forward to it.

There are ways to introduce former equipment without having it be in inventory off the bat, I see and understand about the engine not supporting "loaded saves" so perhaps a "Personal Quest" for the player character later on based on the "choices" you select at the begining? *insert a few equipment choices based on who you take with you or what your class is.

Lost the sword in a bet about....

xD sounds like something Dora would do. *steals Zeals sword and picks it up from a safehouse somewhere later in game*

Some of these are rather personal to each person though and it would seem hard to imagine them without their personal weapons. I could imagine Ramas keeping his Gem Axe up as a family heirloom or something, hopefully in a place it's not stolen. But Rei's crossbow and Karen's spear are very important items to their respective person. Then again, I can imagine Karen placing the spear in the armory or alter to respect their ancestors.

They could keep those, but you'd need some explanation why they suck in Loren 2. Can't start the game with a best in slot item, especially not the weapon.

Given how "powerful" the hawk and ember blades were in the first loren, and how many weapons lasted me most of the game ( depending on their elemental setting ), add the fact that a powerful weapon can mean exactly nothing without the stats to back them up. If you compare the damage the hawk blade or ember blade does with Loren being low lvl or high lvl, stats do have an effect on how "powerful" an attack can be. There are different ways this could be approached.

Using the hawk blade again for example, after Loren completes the task the gods set for her in the first game, the blade itself can stop "glowing" till a point in the next game. (meaning its stats would be diminished till it glows again) Might make for an interesting plot twist or step in the story depending on how far along the writing for it is and how many chapters will be in game. :P

In any case just an idea that could be toyed with in some respects.

It's a good idea. I'd rather the blade has just stopped glowing per se. I wasn't a fan of how that divine champion thing played out (one of the "too romantic" things for me) and either way I don't think it should be reused even if done better. Loren could definitely keep it, and it could be called - to explain why it now sucks - I want to say Dormant Hawk/Ember Blade, but it might set the expectation it might awaken again. Perhaps Faded? Dull? Dim? Oh damn, I started using Jack adjectives! :P

hmmmm The "Copperleaf" Crossbow which was Rei's Personal Quest Weapon. Given his assassin skill tree didnt seem "overpowered" to me in the slightest. Since its an heirloom belonging to his family, its only natural that he carry it, given that its a new game going off bits and peices of the old one, the crossbow doesnt have to be the "best bow" in the game, just something that Rei personally Cherishes. I found Dora to be alot more useful bow wise then Rei, but each ahd their strengths and weaknesses.

Back to "Deathknight's Two handed sword" or Zeal's Sword, Perhaps it could be something that was left behind and the orcs or someone else salvaged it. Maybe could be incorperated into the story somehow. "The Sword of Zeal : Once Held by a Deathknight this blade has a strange demonic power to it and with the death of its owner carries a strange curse which effects those who wield it." Perhaps the curse could reduce speed and such but maintain other positive attributes.

I got some suggestions for Loren 2.

1. Crafting system of some sort

2. Alignment system. AKA good or bad

3. a better epilogue for LorenXElenore

4. Some civilization elements would be awesome. Like since the second one is gonna be about war, the ability to upgrade the arsenal of the citadel by constructing more defenses or something like that.

5. Loren, or whoever the romantic interest in the first game, asks about the backstory of the MC, and we see a glimpse of it.

etc.

None of the personal quest items were really overpowered to me and since they all have special meaning to the characters I hope they get to keep them, besides its not like we are going to start with the whole gang back together from the start so I don't see a reason difficulty wise why they couldn't have their's already when they make their grand return.

Just saw the amusing bug on Roommates with Two Maxes...and you know, if you were so inclined, you could actually do something like that with a scenario for evil clones/twins/illusion casting succubi.

And some of the giant sprites...if you wish to include 'giants' that would be a relatively easy way to do it with existing art.

I would like to know something about the reappearance of the characters of the previous title. After all that they went through during the last adventure, I would believe that they are now somewhat close to each other and with the player character. What I wish to know is that are there going to be joyful or heartwarming moments (hugs, handshakes...) or is it going to be a simple cold greeting when player character meets them again? It could depend on the personality of the player character, of course.

Now, this might seem like pointless question, but I still wish to confirm it. I don't want to feel like after that last war these people feel hardly anything for each other.
jack1974
That of course will change based on the personality. Draco would be happy to meet everyone again, while Chambara or Mesphit might be less enthusiast or not shown it publicly (of course, ignoring a possible romance with any of them).

question is if anyone would be happy to meet Draco again
