All right the 1.0.1 version with the usual few bugfixes and the new epilogue is in! No more

fall in love because magic stuff!

Franka

But I swear the chances are the one displayed in the battle itself, so if you failed with 90% success chances you really had bad luck!

Yeah, but that's the way RNG always seems to work, and why we both agree that hit % is a bad thing. The added insult of spending a huge delay on giving the enemy a free attack on your MC just means I'll never bother using social talents again. There isn't much reason to anyway, the combat system is (mostly) perfectly functional, unless you've over-leveled and broken it.
jack1974
No I was very careful to not touch the combat balance at all :)

And yes, in future I want to remove RNG. Mind you, people seems to love it (all roguelikes, card game like Slay the spire, etc) but personally I always hated it, even in XCOM when you have 98% hit and you fail... sucks  so I understand and I agree completely. In PS2 there won't be the RNG with the non combat skills anymore for example.

Cool side effect of the millisecond of character portrait fix: if you fail an arena battle and try again...

"Pay no attention to the elf behind the curtain..."

jack1974
Ahh forgot to hide it! When you play a new scene it should clear it though
grey_duck
It does. It just amused me a lot.

I like the new epilogue, it was good to have a flashback of a pleasant moment with some of my favorite characters, I felt it was a real 'human' moment for Karen. Although im curious if you'll be adding onto why the lizardmen were after Karen, personally not too worried about it as I can generally come up with my own explanation on why they hated Karen and/or the Amazons but it seemed like that was what you were trying to do with the epilogue before. :)

jack1974
Yeah,

I think for now I'll leave it unexplained but what I said in the replaced epilogue still stands, the lizardmen worship Chzulu, and they know Karen played a big role in defeating the undead forces. So that's clear why they want to capture and sacrifice her (or maybe eat her alive? :o  )

Player00013

Yeah,

Are they even acknowledged by the other races as intelligent creatures or they are like murlocks from wow?
jack1974
Yes of course but the problem is their language that is very complex and very few races beside lizardmen can understand what they say.
grey_duck
I feel like the side quest in Loren

to get an Amazonian relic, in which Karen apologizes to the Lizardman and family for invading their space, etc.

pretty well acknowledges them as an intelligent race.
jack1974
In that case consider that over 13 years have passed since Cursed Lands events, so things might have changed. A bit like Nagas, not ALL Lizardmen are necessarily evil, etc. Just the majority

I equipped the emerald ring on Nuala during the first full moon. Even though the "Hide in Shadows" spell says "Area:Self", Nuala is able to cast it on others. Haven't been able to test yet if this is unique to Nuala or is tied to the item. But for now, I'll take advantage of it...
jack1974
Ah interesting, I think attaching the skill to an item messes up with the "target:self" value. I think all other items with similar skills (not sure if there are more) would have this problem. I'll take a look why :)
jack1974
Yes that was the reason, the range restrictions normally present in skills won't work when assigning a skill to an item, so I just replaced the skills (there was also Berserk in the Bloodlust Ring which had same issue). No time to dig in the code (also I think would be a bit complex to do).

I'll wait to do an update since it's not a game breaking bug :)

So something strange happened to me just now while playing on normal mode.

I was exploring the Tomb of Urd, then before the battle against King Nimaeus my MC was missing from the battle setup screen. I couldn't play any further because it kept saying, I need my MC for this battle. She appeared on the party and inventory screen though when I checked.

For now I just will leave the tomb alone I guess.
jack1974
Well when that happens you should send me the savegame (and if you saved more than once, even previous saves before that happened). I thought I fixed that bug, but since you can access that part of the game different times during the story, maybe I forgot to fix one of those.
grey_duck
Twice now I've saved in the middle of a scene, and when I resume the game, the background is gone and the sprites are not in the proper location. (Happened once in the Enok scene where he cooks the first time, and just now in Tomb of Urd.)

Enok's regenerate skill (currently novice for me) and his refresh skill (from Kraken talisman) are showing up in the battle log properly when cast, but then show up as "regeneration - heal for 25hp" after casting, and the log reflects this.

jack1974
Fixed the wrong regeneration values. Enok's spell was a bit too much powerful indeed!

Do you have the saves of the problem with the sprites above? It's a trivial fix but I want to be sure to put it in the right place :)
