...Imma guess... half-lizardfolk? Like the little green girl in Karen's "personal quest?"

...And then I notice that you outright said it. *sigh*

Aw, well...

The trouble, as I said before, with using the same characters as last time, is that you run the risk of alienating everyone whose love interest didn't get ported over, or who feels uncomfortable "betraying" their original lover. Plus... well, the ending to the original made it pret-ty clear what happened to everyone...

I'm not saying it's the worst thing ever, just that I'm interested in seeing how one surmounts these hurdles.

First GxG, then also BxG, then just GxG again, then back to both again, seems things are changing every time I check in  .

Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you actually talk about these kinds of decision about a game that won't be coming out until late next year.
Aleema
It was really hard to balance the romances. x_x I went to bed one night and finally Jack had figured it out. It was like cracking a code. We even had a confusion just yesterday about it again, lol. In the end, we decided to focus more on balancing the new romances, but we also tried to balance the old one's too. Not easy.

Edit: Mesphit's in 3rd place? Interesting. :P
Sylrissa
I can only imagine how many times it needed revising that might not have been publicly discussed, glad you finally have it all worked out, I'd only be worried if she became BxG only, which happily isn't the case.

Wow you're right, look at him pulling ahead of the pack like that, good for you Mesphit, and Draco is still just barely staying ahead to hold 4th by one vote.
jack1974
Yes it was crazy balancing the romances! Almost hard as balancing the skills/enemies difficulty and that says all...

I'm a bit surprised to see Chambara at the last place on the love interest poll and surprised to still see Loren at the first, but I want to check this again once the expansion is officially out (should be later today).

I know, I know, this is unnaceptable! Chamby is very very very cute!(I think I'm the only one who thinks such things about her, but is a question of perspective XD  ) But regardless of the votes, she wins in my heart^__^

But speaking about the romance charts, to know how to do every romance(from the first game, expansion and the sequel) must be a real pain, I admire all your work for making such games simply perfect!
Sylrissa
You're not the only one!, I actually switched my vote to her, she's great.
abnaxus
Is it possible to romance someone in the expansion after romancing someone in the core game?
jack1974
The expansion new characters can be recruited at chapter 2, so you need a savegame from that point. So since is early in the story I think the answer is no :) I mean, you can romance two and see jealousy scenes (Chambara-Myrth for example is cool) but even the new characters have the romance scene towards the end of the game (chapter4).
MarSel
Ok just finished all the romance scenes. I still stick by the romantic Draco but I loved them all and even though it pains me even Rei

Chambara's scenes were... Erm... More Kinky then I'm used to but Aleema's writing once again blow me away.

I must say poor Saren though with both Chambara and Mesphit running away on him at the end I was screaming NOOOOO!!! Elenor where they all lived happily ever after was more to my romance heart

jack1974
I see that Mesphit is threatening Rei's second place (and first place between the GxB!)
Aleema
Very interesting. I'm happy, because I was afraid his path would flop, but he's shirtless so that can't happen.

Although at this point I feel I should do a small PSA: ladies, in real life, it doesn't matter how sorry your boyfriend is, it's not okay for them to be violent towards you. Don't stick around for any sort of obligation you may feel towards them. Go.

That's very true, and I'm guilty of allowing it to happen when I was in my late teens to early 20's.

it's all harmless fun in books or video games, but in real life you need to get out of there, as hard as that can be.

THAT, in a nutshell, is why Mesphit didn't do as much for me, even though he is so very pretty.
jack1974
Maybe in the sequel he has learned how to behave in front of a woman!

I don't know I liked Mesphit's romance but much for Saren (preference for scenes and ending). But mostly it was about challenge (that's why I liked Amukiki romance even if silent types aren't really my types) and the fact I have soft spot for anyone who fights for some kind of cause. Yeah, but implications... It's all good in fiction I guess, and If I'm correct he'll get some kind of 'getting rid of the stuff' arc in sequel. I mean that's logical turn, you guys can just kill him  But that would be a shame.
jack1974
Mesphit does have a bit of suicidal tendency but yeah, too good to just get him out of the picture
Tellah
Yeah, I wouldn't put up with someone like Mesphit in real life or anything, but he makes for an interesting story romance-wise.

 But to be fair, I wouldn't put up with someone like Rei in real life either (he pulls a fair amount of possessive 'I'm going to do this stuff she doesn't like but it's For Her Own Good').

...but maybe I shouldn't talk- my vote's with Draco XD

(Disclaimer: I LIKED all romances I mentioned- I'm not saying I disliked Mesphit's or Rei's.)
jtitor
No no, talk  I agree, especially with possessive part

I was a bit unconvinced towards Loren's and Karen's romance, but Loren's is well and smoothly written and Karen... well I take that kind of wrong, she's wonderful. I also wanted Myrth for GxG, but frankly she's the only romance I regret doing. Wasn't it a bit of manipulation not to tell Saren that dating is off the table? I mean, he outright asked at some point.

Also voted for Draco. He's cute and deserves more appreciation.

Just wanted to add some input... got this game over the weekend, loved loved LOVED it, and definitely didn't sleep until the story was told. Which led to a fairly interesting bit of decision making on my part in chapter 4 that I don't entirely remember, but I'm replaying at a slower pace so I can this time.

Through my first playthrough I was intending to romance Mesphit; everything about his romance scenes is very nicely done, I'm a very tactilely sensitive person when I'm reading so

his scenes were immensely attractive to me--the tenderness, unabashed intimacy (the scene where Mesphit smells her, and the tent scene during chapter 4... mmmm.) I also had felt deeply connected to his character by the story arc of his struggle with being a dark elf. Though I wasn't too keen on the whole "beauty and beast" theme with the agression and questionable smacking around, I really fell for the fact that he wanted to redeem himself--but more than that, create a future for his people. I'm a sucker for revolutionaries. :)

Amusingly enough, however, I ended up pursuing the Amukiki romance instead. I think I somehow was confusing the "approach someone" prompt in chapter 4 with fighting at that point (around 72 hours awake... eeesh. Not healthy.) I tend to have a brawler state of mind in RPGs so I really enjoyed Amukiki's scenes--particularly the one Karen interrupts. I was fairly ambivalent though towards him as a romantic interest until the romance conclusion, however.

It was incredibly touching and honestly made me realize just how alike the two were. The line about happiness and wanting really got the waterworks going.

Anyway, playing a third time as a forceful Elenor and taking Rei's path, because let's face it, dude's charming as hell (and adorable further into the romance...

the decision between him and Mesphit destroyed me, because I got it right after the tree climbing scene and when Rei was rambling about how great of a time they would have in his tribe together.

) I'm also taking the full thief/skill character this time around, and pretty amused about how much the dialogue changes when combining that with the forceful personality. Liking it a lot so far.

Hell though, after that I'm chasing down Draco with Saren. I wanted to jump his adorable bones the moment he and Elanor met
