Amber's recipe thread

Post by jack1974 »

Feel free to submit ideas for recipes for the game!
I am obviously going to do them, but like the Marsh stuff Bob posted in another thread, I can always use some suggestions

All recipes are in the formula:
INGREDIENT1+INGREDIENT2+INGREDIENT3 etc (up to 5) = RESULT

However is possible to use as ingredient a crafted item. So you could easily have stuff like:
COPPER ORE + FUEL = COPPER INGOT
AZURITE NUGGET + GEMCUTTING TOOLS = AZURITE CRYSTAL
COPPER INGOT + AZURITE CRYSTAL = AZURITE RING

and so on :)

Below the full list of icons done! I can add a few more, but as usual for time/money reason I might reuse them changing colors or minor details. For example a gem could be recolored to be another one, a bag of flour (white) could be colored in purple and become demon skin powder, and so on!

Tools - to craft certain things, like wood or jewelry. I just used a generic tools, might split in specific tools later, like "gem-cutting tool".

Fuel types (also some woods but are duplicate items)

Enchanted items. The runes are empty since I will put rune symbols over them in the game

Do you have item names we can play with? I want to suggest something like DRAGON MUCUS + OTHER ITEM = SOME TYPE OF GLUE but I don't know what we have to work with!

Yeah, well, what are the ingredients, or do we make those up as well?

True good point. I have some base ingredients, plus a bunch of other stuff.
If you want to help I could post icon images of all the ingredients. For some I already have names, for others not (like various fungus or herbs).

Also, how far into goofy do you want to go? Or should it all be super serious?

Dragon Mucus + Carved Stick + Freezing Water = Dragon Popsicle

I uploaded all the items done so far. I have a few more being made though :)
No need to be super serious, some funny stuff like that is fine.

The main thing is, since I should display also the final item icon, it's not like I can commission 500 icons (there are already a lot as you can see). So if you can reuse an existing image for the final item is better. Or if you can create like 5-6 new recipes that reuse same icons (can be changed in colors and so on) then at least commissioning a new one is "worth it"

Probably most items should produce potions, which is the easiest way to reuse the same icon. Like:
harpy feather+dragon blood+mushroom=levitate potion
and such

That's why we asked for a list. :) And thanks for that.

Thank you for any suggestions. Currently as posted on twitter I have 13 recipes and 47 ingredients. I'm not sure yet how much far I want to go, but I think something like at least 100 recipes and 200 between ingredients and resulting items (some can be reused as ingredient while others not) seems a good compromise!

Here is some suggestions

Claw1 + Fang1 + Blood1 + Bone1 = Familiar1

And you could do the same with 2 and 3 and you could maybe reuse some of monster images you already have for it. We already know from some of previous games that nobles are crazy for those :) .

And if you go for it you could do the similar for different types of familiars like

Eye1 + Feather1 + Fang1 + something1 = Flying Familiar.

Haha interesting. The only problem is that the items art is painted while the monster art I have is linear+cellshade, so not sure if the final result would look good. But worse case I could get a few "familiars" made for this :)
