Amber development

Post by jack1974 »

As you know, Forsaken was picked to replace the old writer and finish this game (was about time too lol).
She earned the title of "Savior of Old Games on Hiatus" for this  (because she also worked on Queen Of Thieves, a game on hiatus since 2011!)

Jokes apart, things are going well, the main story is all written, and she just sent me Daniel's route. Below an excerpt from the first scene in which there's a sort of mini-competition set by Haros between Amber and Daniel, and if you want you can be a bad girl (Dark) and try to seduce Daniel to copy his stuff
"Since I had come to Haros' shop, I had noticed how Daniel looked at me."
"A few times when I had been asked to bend over to pick something up or lean over a counter to catch a flask before it fell, his eyes had been on me."
"To be honest, I had stopped climbing ladders when he was near."
"I didn't know if he was really being lecherous or just naturally curious, but I felt it was better to be safe than sorry."
"It was kind of flattering really, a little embarrassing, but it was nice to know not everyone thought I was some kind of horrible monster because of my skin."
"I could use this but I would have to be careful."
"It's not like I had practice at this kind of thing either..."
"I sauntered over to Daniel's bench, moving up behind him and leaning over to look at what he was up to."
"I could feel him stiffen as soon as my chest pressed against his back."
I think many players will like to play as Dark Amber, in particular with certain characters.... coughs Ruby coughs 8)
ALso at this pace, the whole script will be done this Summer. Of course it doesn't mean the game will be out this Summer! However as you can imagine for me will be very good to have the full script ready (the art was ready since 2 years ) so when I decide to work on this, it will depend only on me.

I haven't made my mind yet if this will also have some SMALL/MINOR RPG part, for sure will have the alchemy/crafting one since Anima (the coder) already wrote a system for it :)

"and if you want you can be a bad girl (Dark)"
Is this something similar with what you announced for Undead Lily Romances where you can get dominant/submissive romance just here will be more bad girl/good girl (Dark/Light)?

No, not really. Perhaps a better way of putting it is you can choose to be selfish or selfless. That has influence on yourself as well as influence on the person you are romancing so the more you encourage them to be selfish/dark like you, the darker they get alongside you which will affect how your relationship ends up. It's not always guaranteed you'll get a good ending if you're completely selfless but neither is it always guaranteed you'll get a bad ending if you're completely selfish.

Yes the ending CGs are all done, and that artist doesn't work for me anymore so we cannot change / add them. But you can behave differently in several situations of the game, and I like how "dark" doesn't mean evil. In some cases it's even what I personally would have done in real life (for example in a scene you can teach Daniel to not act so superior, etc).

Maybe it is just me but that does sound similar to case in UL with exception that you don't get different CGs. Anyway it does sound great and I love to be able to play as more dark character so I am looking forward to see how it turns up (Not that I didn't look forward to game before).

Well you do get different CGs depending on how light or dark you go. Sometimes going too far one way or the other can lead to tragedy rather than romance in the end.

Small question: Amber represents the first and thus far only time I've seen a Dark Elf who isn't blue. Just Curious as to why that is.

Oh, and one more thing: THANK YOU FORSAKEN!!!

Haha well there's no special reason, it's just how the artist colored it  but she's a true dark elf!

I think it is reader common for dark elfs with blue skin to sometimes have purple and for those with black to sometimes have gray, I always thought it is the same as how humans have different skin colors and didn't think much about it.

You must thank Forsaken, since she wrote a main plot event suggesting two possible sexy CG with Amber and Vin, involving some sort of TENTACLES... (of course, nothing pornographic, I don't make hentai stuff!)
Since that artist doesn't work for me anymore I asked Undead Lily's one, and she did a great job simulating the style. I'm sure you'll be pleased by the result!!! 8)
