Can't play on a Retina Display

Post by Troyen »

So I have a retina MacBook Pro, and the game engine doesn't support retina displays. When I launch the game, I get the lower left-hand 80% of the menu screen (cuts off around Elenor's hairline and the rightmost button is off-screen). The mouse cursor is also treated as being around 200 pixels higher than it actually is, so if I want to select something, I need to move the mouse 1/5th of the screen below that item in order to click it. This is a problem for me because Loren starts in full-screen mode and the menu buttons are at the bottom - i.e. unclickable.

I know you reported the retina bug to the RenPy coder (does he have an update?), but in the meantime I'm trying to find a workaround so I can swap to windowed mode. I can't go to Settings because the button isn't clickable, and I can't seem to find my preferences file to reset to the default (and hope the default is windowed mode). There also don't appear to be any hotkeys.

How can I force the game to windowed mode?

To toggle between windowed/fullscreen you can press the F key on the keyboard.
Regarding the retina bug, I told him, he answered in his forums:
http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 32&t=28703
the final answer at the bottom:
I've been trying to repeat this issue on my mac, using retina emulation, but haven't been able to cause the problem to recur.
maybe you could get in touch with him directly? I don't have a retina mac myself :(
You can use Renpy github if you're familiar with it to submit an "official bug":
https://github.com/renpy/renpy/issues
in particular:
https://github.com/renpy/renpy/issues/473
